Exposure Outings: Once or twice a week all interns will take a trip exploring around town. These trips will be linked to important skills or knowledge high school students need to have a grasp of. Examples might include visiting the local community college, meeting with a business owner, visiting the local jail, etc.
Fun Outings: Once a week all interns will go celebrate the opportunity to share the summer experience together. This might include something as simple as going to the pool and something as interesting as tubing.
Microbusinesses: Each senior intern will head up a micro-businesses and will need to spend 8-10 hours with a team of junior interns developing and selling their products. The two businesses will be a screen-printing shop and a cafe.
Mentoring: Perhaps this is the most important element of the summer. Senior interns won't enjoy the summer if they don't deeply love mentoring younger people. This whole summer is about forming mutually transforming relationships. We see these relationships between junior and senior interns as the epicenter of all that happens throughout the summer. To help facilitate this year, senior interns will lead a small group of junior interns in a Bible study throughout the summer. As well, there will be a lot of margin in the schedule for senior interns to spend unstructured time with junior interns.
